Goals of the game
Man Utd: Scholes (51'), Hernandez (63'), Buttner (66'), Powell (82')
Wigan: --
In breath-taking, blitzkrieg fashion, Manchester United returned to giving its "normal service" as it won all three points with a four-goal win against Wigan Athletic at the Theater of Dreams.
First-half was forgettable for the reds, who dominated and controlled the game but produced no results. But when the second-half came in, the squad roared to life. They kept knocking on Wigan's door until Scholes went forward, anticipating the pass as he always expertly does, and taps in the opening goal.
Hernandez got in the scoresheet as well who, despite missing the penalty in the first half, netted the second goal for the reds after a pass from defender Rio Ferdinand.
Then came the introductions. First, it was Dutchman Alexander Buttner, who, in my opinion, looked definitely a lot better than Patrice Evra. He goes forward more efficiently, evidenced by his superb goal in the 66th minute after passing through a wall of Wigan defenders.

Lastly, Powell greeted the United faithful with a solid, resounding "hello" as he rocketed the fourth goal for the Reds at 20~ yards.
Even without the star strikers Rooney and Van Persie in the starting lineup (RVP was subbed later on at the hour mark), it was clear that Manchester United can score goals, and a lot of it. They've pretty much silenced more than a handful of their critics tonight with a brilliant performance.
Young guns Powell and Buttner gave Sir Alex Ferguson a lot to think about in how the legendary manager picks his squad in the future. The two lads have made an impression, a strong one at that.
Chicharito and Welbeck proved they can fill the place of top guns Rooney and Van Persie, showing the world that United have depth in its attacking force.
Carrick was insightful as always, and was good at the ball alongside Scholes.
But of course, the man of the match has to be the legendary Scholes. After 700 appearances, the man has proven he is still at the top of his game. A year ago, he was supposed to be retired; fast-forward a year or so, he would be the catalyst for the Reds.
There is that glimmer of hope for the United fans after seeing this match. Maybe, maybe, this year is our year: the year when Manchester United become "Champ20ns".
